SolidStart® LSL

LSL Lumber

LP® SolidStart® LSL
Headers and Beams

LP® SolidStart® LSL can cut labor costs and build cycle time. Plus, since it won’t twist or warp, you'll see few callbacks due to squeaky, stuck or out-of-true specialty doors and windows.

Headers Cut to Size

LP SolidStart LSL is cut to the perfect thickness and depth for a variety of header applications.

Typical Header Sizes

Strand Lumber Beams

3 ½" x 5 ½"
3 ½" x 7 ¼"
3 ½" x 9 ½"
3 ½" x 11 7/8"

Low Moisture Content Prevents Shrinking

LP SolidStart LSL is manufactured using a state-of-the art steam injection press which produces finished LSL with 7%-10% moisture content — moisture content similar to that of the atmosphere of a house. That means more resistance to shrinking, warping, twisting and bowing. And that means fewer call backs

The Problem with Dried-Out Lumber

SolidStart LSL Beams
  • Squeaking and creaking
  • Out-of-true windows
  • Hard-to-shut doors
  • Other callback headaches

Ready-Built Headers

LP SolidStart is available in 3-1/2” thick pieces for 2x4 wall construction. This saves the crew time because they won't have to fabricate the header either from dimension lumber with a piece of plywood to make it the right thickness or from two pieces of 1-3/4” material which must be fastened together.

Reduce Stress on Doors and Windows

Because LP SolidStart LSL won’t twist or shrink, it’s perfect to use on window or door headers, especially sliding glass doors and specialty windows.

Hip or Valley Beams

Finding traditional lumber long enough to span a hip or valley, and straight enough to keep you sane is time consuming. And typically, you might pay a premium for that length of traditional lumber. LP SolidStart LSL arrives straight and stays straight. It also comes in a range of depths up to 24”, making it the ideal solution for hip and valley beams. And since these are structural members, you can take advantage of LP's technical and design support to use the right size and strength of LSL.
